Ενάντια στη στρατιωτική επιθετικότητα των ΗΠΑ στη Βενεζουέλα
και σε κάθε ιμπεριαλιστική παρουσία στη Λατινική Αμερική!
Ας ενώσουμε τους αγώνες των λαών της Λατινικής Αμερικής με αυτούς των εργαζομένων των ΗΠΑ ενάντια στον Τραμπ
Ένας αμερικανικός στόλος έχει αναπτυχθεί στην Καραϊβική Θάλασσα στα ανοικτά των ακτών της Βενεζουέλας. Με τη μονομερή κήρυξη «πολέμου κατά της εμπορίας ναρκωτικών» από τον Τραμπ, η κυβέρνησή του διεκδικεί το ιμπεριαλιστικό «δικαίωμα» να επέμβει στρατιωτικά.
Ένας άμεσος πολιτικοστρατιωτικός στόχος είναι η αλλαγή καθεστώτος στη Βενεζουέλα. Έχει ανακηρύξει τον Πρόεδρο Μαδούρο «ναρκοτρομοκράτη» και έχει επιβάλει αμοιβή 50 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων για το κεφάλι του. Ο Τραμπ θεωρεί τον εαυτό του «σερίφη» της Καραϊβικής και της Λατινικής Αμερικής. Μέσα σε λίγες εβδομάδες, έχει επιβάλει ναυτικό ημι-αποκλεισμό στα ανοικτά της Βενεζουέλας και έχει βυθίσει τρία σκάφη, σκοτώνοντας περισσότερα από 30 μέλη πληρώματος, κατηγορώντας τα ότι είναι έμποροι ναρκωτικών. Μόλις βύθισε δύο ακόμη σκάφη στα ανοικτά της Κολομβίας και του Τρινιντάντ, όπου επιζώντες και συγγενείς έχουν αποδείξει ότι ήταν ψαράδες.
Ο Τραμπ θέλει να διεκδικήσει τα «δικαιώματα» των ΗΠΑ σε αυτό που θεωρεί «αυλή» τους στη Λατινική Αμερική. Για τον σκοπό αυτό, καταφεύγει (αν και δεν είχε ποτέ εγκαταλειφθεί εντελώς) στην πολιτική του «μεγάλου ραβδιού» και στη διπλωματία των «κανονιοφόρων» (και των πυρηνικών υποβρυχίων, και της «εξουσιοδότησης» επιχειρήσεων άμεσης επίθεσης σε έδαφος της Βενεζουέλας).
Αυτό αποτελεί μέρος της πάλης μεταξύ των καπιταλιστικών μονοπωλίων, ιδιαίτερα εναντίον της Κίνας, η οποία τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει σημειώσει πρόοδο στο διεθνές εμπόριο με τη Λατινική Αμερική. Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες παραμένουν ο κύριος άμεσος «επενδυτής» στη Λατινική Αμερική (38%), ακολουθούμενες από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (16%) και, αρκετά πιο πίσω, την Κίνα, η οποία βρίσκεται ακόμη και σε πτώση. Αλλά εμπορικά, η Κίνα είναι ο κύριος προορισμός για πολλές λατινοαμερικανικές εξαγωγές (όπως η Βραζιλία, η Χιλή και το Περού). Η Λατινική Αμερική εξαρτάται ολοένα και περισσότερο από τις εξαγωγές γεωργικών προϊόντων και πρώτων υλών (Χιλή και Περού σε χαλκό, Βραζιλία και Αργεντινή σε σόγια, Βενεζουέλα σε πετρέλαιο κ.λπ.) και τις εισαγωγές μεταποιημένων προϊόντων. Αλλά τα χρήματα που λαμβάνει από τις εξαγωγές της δεν επενδύονται στη βιομηχανοποίηση ή την οικονομική ανάπτυξη ή στην επίλυση των μεγάλων κοινωνικών προβλημάτων των εργαζόμενων μαζών. Πηγαίνουν απευθείας στις τσέπες των ολιγαρχιών και για την πληρωμή των «εξωτερικών χρεών» προς το ΔΝΤ και το αμερικανικό και ευρωπαϊκό ιμπεριαλιστικό χρηματοπιστωτικό κεφάλαιο.
Ο Τραμπ χρησιμοποιεί τον συνεχιζόμενο οικονομικό πόλεμο εναντίον της Κίνας (και της Ρωσίας) για να σφίξει τα λουριά σε όλη τη Λατινική Αμερική και να υπαγορεύσει τις πολιτικές του. Θέλει να αποκτήσει οικονομικά πλεονεκτήματα και να προωθήσει μεγαλύτερη στρατιωτική κυριαρχία. Αυτή η μιλιταριστική και φασιστική επίθεση μετατρέπει επίσης σε αποδιοπομπαίους τράγους τους φτωχούς Λατίνους μετανάστες στις ΗΠΑ, οι οποίοι απελαύνονται με χρήση του στρατού. Το σχέδιό του για μιλιταρισμό και οικονομικό πόλεμο συνοδεύεται από αυξανόμενη εσωτερική στρατιωτικοποίηση, η οποία δεν σταματά στις μαζικές συλλήψεις μεταναστών, αλλά περιλαμβάνει την ανάπτυξη στρατευμάτων στις περισσότερες από τις μεγάλες πόλεις της χώρας. Η ίδια η εργατική τάξη των ΗΠΑ αποτελεί κεντρικό στρατιωτικό στόχο της επίθεσης του Τραμπ.
Η ηγεσία των συνδικάτων AFL-CIO των ΗΠΑ έχει επίσης συμμετάσχει στην υποστήριξη των στρατιωτικών επεμβάσεων των ΗΠΑ στη Βενεζουέλα, τη Λατινική Αμερική και σε όλο τον κόσμο μέσω του χρηματοδοτούμενου από την κυβέρνηση «Κέντρου Αλληλεγγύης» του AFL-CIO. Καλούμε τους εργάτες των ΗΠΑ να απορρίψουν τις φιλοϊμπεριαλιστικές πολιτικές της ηγεσίας του AFL-CIO, η οποία έχει επίσης υποστηρίξει τον στρατιωτικό προϋπολογισμό τρισεκατομμυρίων δολαρίων της κυβέρνησης των ΗΠΑ. Οι εργάτες και οι συνδικαλιστές των ΗΠΑ πρέπει να συνδεθούν άμεσα με τους εργάτες στη Βενεζουέλα, τη Λατινική Αμερική και σε όλο τον κόσμο, σε αντίθεση με την καπιταλιστική άρχουσα τάξη τους, η οποία απειλεί την εργατική τάξη του κόσμου.
Είμαστε κατά της ιμπεριαλιστικής δράσης των ΗΠΑ. Απορρίπτουμε τις στρατιωτικές απειλές τους και απαιτούμε την άμεση απόσυρση του αμερικανικού στόλου από τα ύδατα της Λατινικής Αμερικής. Οι ΗΠΑ έχουν περίπου 800 βάσεις σε όλο τον κόσμο: 9 στην Κολομβία, 8 στο Περού, 3 στο Μεξικό, 3 στην Ονδούρα και 12 στο Πουέρτο Ρίκο! Ο λαός του Πουέρτο Ρίκο ανταποκρίθηκε στις ανακοινώσεις Τραμπ με αυξανόμενες κινητοποιήσεις που αποτελούν αναβίωση της αμφισβήτησης του καθεστώτος τους ως άμεσης αμερικανικής αποικίας. Οι ΗΠΑ έχουν εγκαταστήσει ξανά στρατεύματα στη Διώρυγα του Παναμά και πιέζουν για την εγκατάσταση βάσεων σε νέες χώρες όπως η Βραζιλία και η Αργεντινή.
Στον υβριδικό πόλεμο οικονομικών και στρατιωτικών μέτρων, προώθησε δημοψήφισμα για τις 11 Νοεμβρίου στον Ισημερινό για να «νομιμοποιήσει» την επανεγκατάσταση στρατιωτικών βάσεων που είχαν κλείσει πριν από χρόνια. Οι ΗΠΑ δάνεισαν 600 εκατομμύρια δολάρια στην κυβέρνηση Νομπόα, η οποία αντιμετωπίζει γενική απεργία κατά των αυξήσεων στις τιμές των καυσίμων και άλλων αντιλαϊκών μέτρων, και ανακοίνωσαν ότι θα της δανείσουν άλλα 5 δισεκατομμύρια δολάρια εάν το ΝΑΙ κερδίσει στο δημοψήφισμα.
Το ίδιο ισχύει και στην Αργεντινή, όπου ο Τραμπ δανείζει χρήματα στην κυβέρνηση του Μιλέι (αυξάνοντας το δημόσιο χρέος και υπερασπιζόμενος τα συμφέροντα των ομολογιούχων) με τον ρητό όρο ότι ο ακροδεξιός σύμμαχός του θα κερδίσει τις εκλογές ενάντια στην αυξανόμενη λαϊκή αντιπολίτευση. Ο πρέσβης των ΗΠΑ και άλλοι απεσταλμένοι του Τραμπ συναντώνται απευθείας με κυβερνήτες, αστούς πολιτευτές και συνδικαλιστές γραφειοκράτες για να προασπίσουν τα οικονομικά τους συμφέροντα στη χώρα, ιδίως για να ελέγξουν τα κοιτάσματα λιθίου και σπάνιων γαιών. Ο Μιλέι μόλις διέταξε την είσοδο αμερικανικών στρατευμάτων στην Αργεντινή για να συμμετάσχουν σε κοινές στρατιωτικές ασκήσεις με στόχο την «εδραίωση της περιφερειακής σταθερότητας».
Η κυβέρνηση των ΗΠΑ έχει προωθήσει μέσω του Οργανισμού Αμερικανικών Κρατών (ΟΑΚ) τη δημιουργία μιας στρατιωτικής δύναμης, για να επέμβει στην Αϊτή. Θέλει από τις λατινοαμερικανικές κυβερνήσεις να παράσχουν στρατιώτες, ώστε να μπορέσει να αποσύρει τους δικούς της για να αναλάβουν δράση εναντίον της Βενεζουέλας και άλλων περιοχών.
Η λατινοαμερικανική αστική τάξη και ένα μεγάλο μέρος των αστικών εθνικιστικών κινημάτων ενεργούν με δειλό τρόπο. Ο Μαδούρο έχει προτείνει διαπραγμάτευση με τον Τραμπ για ελεύθερη πρόσβαση των ΗΠΑ σε παραχωρήσεις, όπως αυτές που ήδη κατέχει η Chevron, για το πετρέλαιο της Βενεζουέλας (το μεγαλύτερο απόθεμα στον κόσμο). Ο Τραμπ το απέρριψε αυτό επειδή θέλει αλλαγή καθεστώτος. Εργάζεται για να διχάσει το καθεστώς και τις ένοπλες δυνάμεις του. Έχει ξεκινήσει μια παγκόσμια προπαγανδιστική εκστρατεία που κορυφώθηκε με τον ορισμό της συμμάχου του, της δεξιάς ηγέτιδας της Βενεζουέλας Κορίνα Ματσάδο, ως βραβευμένης με Νόμπελ Ειρήνης. Η Κορίνα Ματσάδο συμμετείχε στην απόπειρα πραξικοπήματος κατά του Τσάβες το 2002 και πάντα ζητούσε οικονομικές κυρώσεις κατά της Βενεζουέλας, ακόμη και άμεση στρατιωτική επέμβαση των ΗΠΑ.
Είμαστε ενάντιοι στην ιμπεριαλιστική επέμβαση και την στρατιωτική επιθετικότητα που στοχεύει στην αλλαγή καθεστώτος, χωρίς να παρέχουμε πολιτική υποστήριξη στον Μαδούρο και τους διεφθαρμένους, καταπιεστικούς κύκλους του εναντίον των εργαζομένων. Είναι απαραίτητο να οπλιστούν οι εργάτες, να εθνικοποιηθούν οι αμερικανικές και ιμπεριαλιστικές εταιρείες, οι τράπεζες και το εξωτερικό εμπόριο, υπό εργατικό έλεγχο.
Οι χώρες BRICS επιτρέπουν την ανάπτυξη αυτής της ιμπεριαλιστικής στρατιωτικής απειλής κατά της Βενεζουέλας, όπως ακριβώς επέτρεψαν τη γενοκτονία του Τραμπ και του Νετανιάχου κατά της Γάζας. Η Βραζιλία έχει τοποθετήσει στρατό στα σύνορα της Βενεζουέλας. Οι λατινοαμερικανικές αστικές τάξεις παραμένουν σιωπηλές. Στην καλύτερη περίπτωση, προσπαθούν να εξηγήσουν στον Τραμπ ότι κάνει «λάθος», όπως είπε ο Πέτρο της Κολομβίας.
Είναι οι νέοι και οι εργαζόμενοι που κινητοποιούνται ενάντια στις ιμπεριαλιστικές δυνάμεις και τις πολιτικές λιτότητας και ιμπεριαλιστικού πολέμου στο Περού, την Παραγουάη, την Ουρουγουάη και την Αργεντινή. Περισσότεροι από 7 εκατομμύρια Αμερικανοί (από όλες τις κοινότητες) διαδήλωσαν στις 18 Οκτωβρίου σε 2.000 πόλεις σε όλες τις ΗΠΑ ενάντια στις φασιστικές ενέργειες του Τραμπ. Ας ενώσουμε τις δυνάμεις μας.
- Έξω ο αμερικανικός ιμπεριαλισμός από τη Βενεζουέλα, τον Παναμά, τον Ισημερινό και όλη τη Λατινική Αμερική! Άμεση αποχώρηση όλων των ναυτικών και αεροπορικών δυνάμεων από την Καραϊβική!
- Τέλος στις διώξεις των Λατίνων που ζουν στις ΗΠΑ. Τέλος στις διώξεις των μεταναστών!
- Έξω το ΔΝΤ. Όχι στην πληρωμή τοκογλυφικών εξωτερικών χρεών!
- Τέλος στις ιμπεριαλιστικές παρεμβάσεις στα έθνη της Λατινικής Αμερικής!
- Έξω οι Γιάνκηδες από τη Βενεζουέλα και τη Λατινική Αμερική!

Fuera la agresión militar estadounidense contra Venezuela y toda presencia imperialista en América Latina!
Unamos las luchas de los pueblos latinoamericanos con la de los trabajadores estadounidenses contra Trump
Se ha desplegado una flota estadounidense en el mar Caribe, frente a las costas de Venezuela. Con la declaración unilateral de Trump de “guerra contra el narcotráfico”, su administración ha reivindicado el “derecho” imperialista a intervenir militarmente.
Un objetivo político-militar directo es el cambio de régimen en Venezuela. Ha declarado al presidente Maduro “narcoterrorista” y ha puesto una recompensa de 50 millones de dólares por su cabeza. Trump se considera a sí mismo el “sheriff” del Caribe y América Latina. En cuestión de semanas, ha establecido un bloqueo seminaval frente a Venezuela y ha hundido tres barcos, matando a más de 30 tripulantes, acusándolos de ser narcotraficantes. Acaba de hundir dos barcos más frente a Colombia y Trinidad, donde los supervivientes y familiares han demostrado que son pescadores artesanales.
Trump quiere hacer valer los “derechos” de Estados Unidos sobre lo que considera su “patio trasero” en América Latina. Para ello, está recurriendo a la política —nunca del todo abandonada— del “garrote” y la diplomacia de las cañoneras (y los submarinos nucleares, y la “autorización” de operaciones de ataque directo en territorio venezolano).
Esto forma parte de la lucha entre los monopolios capitalistas, en particular contra China, que en los últimos años ha avanzado en el comercio internacional con América Latina. Estados Unidos sigue siendo el principal inversor directo en América Latina (38 %), seguido de la Unión Europea (16 %) y, bastante más atrás, de China, que incluso está en declive. Pero comercialmente, China es el principal destino de muchas exportaciones latinoamericanas (como Brasil, Chile y Perú). América Latina se ha vuelto cada vez más dependiente de las exportaciones agrícolas y de materias primas (Chile y Perú del cobre, Brasil y Argentina de la soja, Venezuela del petróleo) y de las importaciones de productos manufacturados. Pero el dinero que recibe de sus exportaciones no se invierte en la industrialización o el desarrollo económico, ni en resolver los graves problemas sociales de las masas trabajadoras. Va directamente a los bolsillos de las oligarquías y a pagar las deudas externas al FMI y al capital financiero imperialista estadounidense y europeo.
Trump utiliza la guerra económica en curso contra China (y Rusia) para apretar las tuercas en toda América Latina y dictar sus políticas. Quiere obtener ventajas económicas y avanzar en su dominio militar. Esta ofensiva militarista y de orientación fascista también convierte en chivos expiatorios a los inmigrantes latinos pobres en Estados Unidos, que son expulsados militarmente. Su plan de militarismo y guerra económica va acompañado de una creciente militarización interna, que no se limita a las detenciones masivas de migrantes, sino que incluye el despliegue de tropas en la mayoría de las principales ciudades del país. La propia clase trabajadora de Estados Unidos es un objetivo militar central de la ofensiva de Trump.
La dirección sindical de la AFL-CIO estadounidense también ha participado en el apoyo a las intervenciones militares de Estados Unidos en Venezuela, América Latina y en todo el mundo a través del “Centro de Solidaridad” de la AFL-CIO, financiado por el Gobierno. Hacemos un llamamiento a los trabajadores estadounidenses para que rechacen las políticas proimperialistas de la dirección de la AFL-CIO, que también ha apoyado el presupuesto militar de un billón de dólares del Gobierno estadounidense. Los trabajadores y sindicalistas estadounidenses deben unirse directamente a los trabajadores de Venezuela, América Latina y todo el mundo en oposición a su propia clase dominante capitalista, que está amenazando a la clase trabajadora mundial.
Estamos en contra de la acción imperialista de Estados Unidos. Rechazamos sus amenazas militares y exigimos la retirada inmediata de la flota estadounidense de las aguas latinoamericanas. Estados Unidos tiene unas 800 bases en todo el mundo: 9 en Colombia, 8 en Perú, 3 en México, 3 en Honduras y 12 en Puerto Rico. El pueblo de Puerto Rico ha respondido a los anuncios con crecientes movilizaciones que suponen un resurgimiento del cuestionamiento de su condición de colonia directa de Estados Unidos. Estados Unidos ha reinstalado tropas en el Canal de Panamá y está presionando para instalar bases en nuevos países como Brasil y Argentina.
En su guerra híbrida de medidas económicas y militares, ha promovido un plebiscito para el 11 de noviembre en Ecuador con el fin de «legalizar» la reinstalación de bases militares que habían sido cerradas hace años. Estados Unidos ha prestado 600 millones de dólares al Gobierno de Noboa, que se enfrenta a una huelga general contra el aumento del precio de los combustibles y otras medidas antipopulares, y ha anunciado que le prestará otros 5.000 millones si gana el SÍ en el referéndum.
Lo mismo ocurre en Argentina, donde Trump está prestando dinero al gobierno de Milei (aumentando la deuda pública y defendiendo los intereses de los bonistas) con la condición explícita de que su aliado de extrema derecha gane las elecciones frente a la creciente oposición popular. El embajador estadounidense y otros enviados de Trump se están reuniendo directamente con gobernadores, opositores burgueses y burócratas sindicales para defender sus intereses económicos en el país, en particular para avanzar en los yacimientos de litio y tierras raras. Milei acaba de decretar la entrada de tropas estadounidenses en Argentina para participar en maniobras militares conjuntas con miras a “consolidar la estabilidad regional”, según el militar al mando.
El gobierno estadounidense ha impulsado a través de la OEA la formación de una fuerza militar, una nueva Minustah, para intervenir en Haití. Quiere que los gobiernos latinoamericanos proporcionen soldados para poder retirar los suyos y llevar a cabo aventuras contra Venezuela y otros lugares.
La burguesía latinoamericana y gran parte de los movimientos nacionalistas burgueses actúan de forma cobarde. Maduro ha propuesto negociar con Trump el libre acceso de Estados Unidos a concesiones, como las que ya tiene Chevron, sobre el petróleo venezolano (la mayor reserva del mundo). Trump ha rechazado esto porque quiere un cambio de régimen. Está trabajando para dividir al régimen y sus fuerzas armadas. Ha lanzado una campaña de propaganda global que culminó con el nombramiento de su aliada, la líder derechista venezolana Corina Machado, como ganadora del Premio Nobel de la Paz. Corina Machado participó en el intento de golpe de Estado contra Chávez en 2002 y siempre ha pedido sanciones económicas contra Venezuela e incluso la intervención militar directa de Estados Unidos.
Nos oponemos a la intervención imperialista y a la agresión militarista destinada a cambiar el régimen, pero no damos apoyo político a Maduro y a sus círculos corruptos y represivos contra el pueblo trabajador. Es necesario armar a los trabajadores, nacionalizar las empresas yanquis e imperialistas, la banca y el comercio exterior, bajo el control de los trabajadores.
Los BRICS permiten el desarrollo de esta amenaza militar imperialista contra Venezuela, al igual que permitieron el genocidio de Trump y Netanyahu contra Gaza. Brasil ha posicionado un ejército en las fronteras de Venezuela. Las burguesías latinoamericanas permanecen en silencio. En el mejor de los casos, intentan explicarle a Trump que está «equivocado», como ha hecho Petro de Colombia.
Son los jóvenes y los trabajadores quienes se movilizan contra las potencias imperialistas y sus políticas de austeridad y guerra imperialista en Perú, Paraguay, Uruguay y Argentina. Más de 7 millones de estadounidenses (de todas las comunidades) se manifestaron el 18 de octubre en 2000 ciudades de todo Estados Unidos contra las acciones fascistas de Trump. Unamos nuestras fuerzas.
Fuera el imperialismo estadounidense de Venezuela, Panamá, Ecuador y toda América Latina! ¡Retirada inmediata de todas las fuerzas navales y aéreas del Caribe!

A US fleet has been deployed in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Venezuela. With Trump’s unilateral declaration of “war on drug trafficking,” his administration has claimed the imperialist “right” to intervene militarily.
A direct political-military objective is regime change in Venezuela. He has declared President Maduro a “narco-terrorist” and put a $50 million bounty on his head. Trump considers himself the “sheriff” of the Caribbean and Latin America. In a matter of weeks, he has established a semi-naval blockade off Venezuela and sunk three boats, killing more than 30 crew members, accusing them of being drug traffickers. He has just sunk two more boats off Colombia and Trinidad, where survivors and relatives have proven that they are artisanal fishermen.
Trump wants to assert U.S. “rights” over what he considers its “backyard” in Latin America. To this end, he is resorting to the —never entirely abandoned—policy of the “big stick” and the diplomacy of “gunboats” (and nuclear submarines, and the “authorization” of direct attack operations on Venezuelan territory).
This is part of the struggle between capitalist monopolies, particularly against China, which in recent years has made advances in international trade with Latin America. The United States remains the main direct “investor” in Latin America (38%), followed by the European Union (16%) and, quite a bit further behind, China, which is even in decline. But commercially, China is the main destination for many Latin American exports (such as Brazil, Chile, and Peru). Latin America has become increasingly dependent on agricultural and raw material exports (Chile and Peru on copper, Brazil and Argentina on soybeans, Venezuela on oil, etc.) and imports of manufactured goods. But the money it receives from its exports is not invested in industrialization or economic development or in solving the acute social problems of the working masses. It goes directly into the pockets of the oligarchies and to pay the “external debts” to the IMF and US and European imperialist finance capital.
Trump uses the ongoing economic war against China (and Russia) to tighten the screws throughout Latin America and dictate his policies. He wants to gain economic advantages and advance greater military dominance. This militaristic and fascist-oriented offensive also scapegoats poor Latino immigrants in the US who are expelled militarily. His plan of militarism and economic warfare is accompanied by growing internal militarization, which does not stop at mass arrests of migrants, but includes the deployment of troops in most of the country’s major cities. The working class of the US itself is a central military target of Trump’s offensive.
The US AFL-CIO trade union leadership has also been involved in supporting US military interventions in Venezuela, Latin America and throughout the world through the government funded AFL-CIO “Solidarity Center”. We call on US workers to reject the pro-imperialist policies of the AFL-CIO leadership who have also supported the trillion dollar military budget of the US government. US workers and unionists must link up directly with workers in Venezuela, Latin America and around the world in opposition to their own capitalist ruling class who are threatening the working class of the world.
We are against US imperialist action. We reject its military threats and demand the immediate withdrawal of the US fleet from Latin American waters. The US has some 800 bases around the world: 9 in Colombia, 8 in Peru, 3 in Mexico, 3 in Honduras, and 12 in Puerto Rico! The people of Puerto Rico have responded to the announcements with growing mobilizations that are a resurgence of the questioning of their status as a direct US colony. The US has reinstalled troops in the Panama Canal and is pushing for the installation of bases in new countries such as Brazil and Argentina.
In its hybrid war of economic and military measures, it has promoted a plebiscite for November 11 in Ecuador to “legalize” the reinstallation of military bases that had been closed years ago. The U.S. has lent $600 million to the Noboa government, which is facing a general strike against fuel price increases and other anti-popular measures, and has announced that it will lend it another $5 billion if the YES vote wins in the referendum.
The same is true in Argentina, where Trump is lending money to Milei’s government (increasing public debt and defending the interests of bondholders) on the explicit condition that his far-right ally wins the elections against growing popular opposition. The US ambassador and other Trump envoys are meeting directly with governors, bourgeois opponents, and union bureaucrats to uphold their economic interests in the country, particularly to advance on lithium and rare earth deposits. Milei has just decreed the entry of US troops into Argentina to participate in joint military exercises with an eye toward “consolidating regional stability,” according to the military in charge.
The US government has pushed through the OAS the formation of a military force, a new Minustah, to intervene in Haiti. It wants Latin American governments to provide soldiers so that it can withdraw its own and carry out adventures against Venezuela and other places.
The Latin American bourgeoisie and a large part of the bourgeois nationalist movements act in a cowardly fashion. Maduro has proposed negotiating with Trump for US free access to concessions, such as those already held by Chevron, on Venezuelan oil (the world’s largest reserve). Trump has rejected this because he wants regime change. He is working to divide the regime and its armed forces. He has launched a global propaganda campaign that culminated in the appointment of his ally, the right-wing Venezuelan leader Corina Machado, as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Corina Machado participated in the coup attempt against Chávez in 2002 and has always called for economic sanctions against Venezuela and even direct US military intervention.
We oppose imperialist intervention and militaristic aggression aimed at regime change, but we do not give political support to Maduro and his corrupt, repressive circles against the working people. It is necessary to arm the workers, nationalize Yankee and imperialist companies, banking, and foreign trade, under workers’ control.
The BRICS allow the development of this imperialist military threat against Venezuela, just as they allowed Trump and Netanyahu’s genocide against Gaza. Brazil has positioned an army on the borders of Venezuela. The Latin American bourgeoisies remain silent. At best, they try to explain to Trump that he is “wrong,” as Petro of Colombia has done.
It is young people and workers who are mobilizing against the imperial powers and their policies of austerity and imperialist war in Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina. More than 7 million Americans (from all communities) demonstrated on October 18th in 2,000 cities across the US against Trump’s fascist actions. Let us unite our strength.
U.S. imperialism out of Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador, and all of Latin America! Immediate withdrawal of all naval and air forces from the Caribbean!
End the persecution of Latinos living in the US; no more persecution of immigrants!
Out with the IMF. No to the payment of usurious foreign debts!
